Seminar
A

rail link between Calgary, Red Deer and Edmonton. After several short
films, a historical perspective on the Calgary-Edmonton corridor by Paul
Pettypiece of Springbrook and presentations by advocacy group High Speed
Rail Canada, Alberta High-Speed Rail Inc. and train builder Alstrom Transportation, a general discussion continued on the concept with
several questions from the audience. The meeting was co-sponsored by the City of Red

Air Spray Provides
Aircraft and Training to Turkish Group
Springbrook-based
Air Spray Ltd. sold three of its Canadair CL-215 twin-engine water
bomber aircraft to the Turkish Aeronautical Association earlier this
year. The company also assisted in training the new owners the operation
and maintenance of the aircraft with six pilots and two engineers over
the summer. On the way to Turkey, the aircraft stopped at Halifax,
Azores, Portugal and Malta. They also stopped in Greece to assist in
battling the intense summer blazes there. The training will likely be a
multi-year commitment. Although the company's priority will continue to
be forest fire fighting in Alberta and British Columbia, other
opportunities overseas are being explored.
