Springbrook Considered for Police Training
Academy
The County is registering interest in the province's plan to build a
police training academy somewhere in the province. The County's logical
choice of location -- Springbrook of course. It's supported by the City
of Red Deer and Red Deer College.
Condos Getting Raw
Deal on County Water Rates
It would appear that condo owners are paying $20 per
month more than other Springbrook residents for their water and sewer.
Monthly rates are at $73 per month and that doesn't even include garbage
collection. Curious owners have been told by County officials that,
since the condos don't have meters, unaccounted-for water is being
lumped in with theirs.

Regional 1 Cancelling Scheduled Service
As a result of high fuel costs and cut-throat
competition, Regional 1 is cancelling all scheduled flights to Kamloops,
Kelowna, Vancouver and Victoria effective Sept. 12. Negotiations are
underway to continue the service with another carrier.

Springbrook's 10th Anniversary Celebration
Plans are rapidly developing to celebrate ten years since
Springbrook began. Games, carnival, chili cook-off, barn dance are being
planned by the Community Association.
New Sports Fields Coming
Due to a shortage of industrial land in Red Deer, the
sports fields located in Edgar Industrial Park are being relocated to
just west of Springbrook across from the newly repaved Airport Road. Red
Deer County purchased the land earlier this year. Construction is
expected to start in the not-too-distant future.
